Snapshots of Grace - Grace to the Failure - John 21:1-17

John 1:14 says that Jesus is full of grace and truth. In this series pastor Chris Meade shares an image of grace that shows God's heart to each of us through the life of Peter and his denial of Christ. It was a devasting failure to Peter, and it sidelined him from God's plan for a short season. In Jesus' encounter with Peter on the beach, we see how Jesus pursues us when we run from Him. The one question He is most interested in whether we fail or succeed is, do you love me?
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Snapshots of Grace - Grace to the Seeker - Luke 19:1-10

If you want to see what God looks like then all you have to do is look at Jesus. The Bible says that Jesus is full of grace and truth. Pastor Chris Meade unpacks the story of Zaccheaus and how he pursued God with all of his heart. When we open our hearts to Christ, we become new creations and spiritual transformation begins to work in us and through us. Jesus, by His Spirit, is in pursuit of us. He extends grace to us when we are humble and when we acknowledge our need of Him. Jesus loves us and gave His life for us. He also has deputizied us to help Him in reaching out to those who are down and out as well as those who are up and out and in need of a Savior. Jesus has come for those who are far from God, and He asks His followers to help. God gives grace to those who seek Him.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Covenant Relationships in Family - Part 3 - Genesis 2 and 3

Healthy family is built upon covenant love and not contractual love. Building a shared history together and developing a family culture that promotes the welfare of the individual within a family causes husbands, wives, and children to flourish. Pastor Chris Meade explores the pyscho/spiritual world of family from a biblical perspective in order to help families align to God's best for their lives.

Covenant Relationships in Family - Part 2

Gravity is a physical law of the universe that is real even though you cannot see it. So too, family contains a force that is just as real in the emotional/spiritual world even though you cannot always see it as well. Building relationships based on covenant promises rather than conditions of performance sets up a family to be a blessing in the lives of everyone all the days of their lives.

Developing An Unfading Beauty That Lasts - 1 Peter 3:1-6

Being a mother in the 21st century is no easy task. In the midst of skewed cultural definitions and expectations, the Bible gives clear beauty principles that apply to every woman in every culture. 1 Peter 3 and Proverbs 31 explore the foundations of feminine beauty of the inner person. Pastor Chris Meade challenges us to draw close to Jesus and become close friends with him, and as we do His image and likeness radiate from the inside out.

Repairing the Hole: Part 4 - Mark 6:30-44

Most everything in life starts with one: one decision, one step, one person, one prayer. In this message, Pastor Chris Meade shares examples of how large-scale transformational change often can be traced back to the power of one. This message challenges each of us to think through what we have and how we might best leverage it in order to influence the positive change we desire to see in our world. Shannon Hughes also presents the Starfish Project-HIV AIDS to Zimbabwe.
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

The Hole In the Church: Part 3 - II Corinthians 8 and 9

At Grace Chapel, we believe that when the local church is working right, it's the hope of the world. There are two great churches in the world: (1) the church of God's blessings here in America, and (2) the church of the suffering servant in Africa (and in other developing countries of the world). The apostle Paul challenged the Corinthians Christians to help equal the playing field and the disparity between the gentile Christians and their new Jewsish brother and sisters who were suffering and experiencing poverty in Jerusalem. And if God cared back then about the inequality in the church, then it's reasonable to conclude that He cares about it today. Pastor Chris Meade challenges us to move beyond awareness and into intentional engagement with the poor and global under-resourced. God has a remedy to resolve hunger, poverty, foul water, HIV/Aids, lack of primary education, and substandard health care and nutrition worldwide. The answer is found in the scriptures, and God's solution has the power to out do every govermental agnecy on the face of the planet. You'll be amazed to hear what God's solution is, and if we may, we dare you to do it!
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

The Hole In Our World: Who is my neighbor? Part 2 - Luke 10:25-37

In this message, pastor Chris Meade uses Jesus' story of the Good Samaritan to unpack one of the world's most daunting global challenges...poverty. And hidden in the web of poverty are all kinds of ugly spiders (hunger, dirty water, Malaria, HIV/Aids, disease, oppression of women, sex trafficking, and other injustices). Poverty is always personal. And although we might not be able to change everything, we can all change something. This message challenges the Grace Chapel community to be a force for good and a force for God by realizing that even though we can't help everyone, we can all help someone.
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

The Hole In Our Gospel: Part 1 - Micah 6:8, Luke 4, Isaiah 58

Pastor Chris Meade begins his first of four talks on the subject of being a whole-hearted, world-focused Christian. Contemporary American Christianity has tended to emphasize our relationship with God over showing justice and compassion to our fellow man. We need both. Being a Christian is having a personl, transforming relationship with Jesus Christ AND having a personal, transforming relationship with the world. The good news of the Gospel is about both personal salvation and social justice. We need both the message of Jesus and the ministry of Jesus. This message series, inspired from the book, The Hole in the Gosepl, by Rich Stearns, will both inspire and challenge you to action.
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Amazed: Part 4 - Living a Life of Worship - Obedience

Everyone worships someone or something because everyone has someone or something that is of great worth or value in their life. As a Christ-follower, we obey God because we love Him. And because we love Him, we obey Him. And we love Him because He first loved us. When we see who Jesus is and what He has done for us, worship becomes a natural by-product of our relationship with God.
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Illusions in Faith, Work, and Wealth: Part 1

Just as everything that glitters isn't always gold, so too all that is gold doesn't necessarily glitter. Our culture teaches that money alone is the key to happiness. Followers of Jesus are asked to challenge that notion and treasure God above all else. Yes, money is part of the equation to success, but clearly not the full deal. In this message, pastor Chris guides us through the cultural mirage to discover God's truths in the Bible.
<itunes:author>Christopher Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Life’s Greatest Commendation: Follow Me – Part 1 - Luke 9:23-25

Every Christian is called to serve God and others. But the reality is that we don’t all say yes. Grace Chapel’s mantra is “helping people say yes to God.” To say yes to God also means that we have to say no to certain things as well. Jesus calls us to deny ourselves and daily take up our cross and die to selfishness. As we do, we’ll be able to follow Jesus with our whole heart. This message looks at some of the things that keep us from saying yes to God. Remember: It is in losing my life for Christ that I really find it. It’s as I serve others that I become great in God’s kingdom.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

It's Not About Me...It's About Othersl - Matthew 22:36-40; Romans 15:1-3

The Bible teaches us to look out for others, and put their interests ahead of our own. Instead of asking, “What’s in it for me?” we need to ask, “What can I do for others?” Jesus challenges our self-centered world view and calls us to get beyond ourselves and love God and others. It’s not all about me, it really is about others. in everything, do to others what you would have them do to
you. Pastor Chris Meade challenges us to stop living the “what’s in it for me” life, and start living for others.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

It's Not About Me...It's About Godl - Matthew 22:36-40; Ephesians 1:3-14

We live for God, not ourselves. It's all about Him, not me. Jesus said that the most important thing in life is loving God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength-loving God with all you’ve got—and then loving your neighbor as yourself. Jesus gives two commandments that involve three loves: love of God, love of neighbor, and love of self, and in that order. Pastor Chris Meade explores three truths located in Ephesians 1:3-14: the apostle Paul's song of praise to God that mentions God's purposess, plans, praise, and pleasure.
<itunes:author>Christopher P.
Traits that Inspire Success - Daniel 5: 10-12

What asset are you best known for? If someone used one word to describe you, what would they use? Talent? Education? Connections? Looks? Skills? The Bible says the greatest gift we can ever offer someone is the gift of our spirit. It's not what we do, but the spirit in which we do what we do. It's not what we say but the spirit in which we say what we say. True success always has an element of heart. This message looks at the life of Daniel and extrapolates five stand-out traits that all successful people in the Scriptures possess. Pastor Chris Meade contextualizes these qualities into the 21st century culture in which we live.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 12 - The Resurrection of the Body and Life Everlasting - 1 Corinthians 15, John 6:40, John 11:25-26, 1 Corinthians 6:14, Romans 6:5, 2 Corinthians 4:14, Philippians 3:20-21

Christianity is an embodied faith: creation, incarnation, and Jesus’ resurrection. Like the ancient Greeks, many people today believe in the immortality of the soul, but Christians believe that our physical bodies will be resurrected; that is, our whole self – body, soul, and spirit. We know that after Jesus' resurrection that His body was recognizable and it was truly physical. It was no longer bound by normal limits of space and time. The resurrection will happen instantly when Jesus comes again or appears. This will result in our total transformation – life after life after death. Jesus also invites us into eternal life, which is both a quality and quantity of life. And as good as life can be in Jesus, the best is yet to come!
<itunes:author>Christopher P.
Truth Matters: Part 11 - The Forgiveness of Sins - 1 John 1:9, Romans 3:23, Matthew 26:28, Ephesians 1:7, Luke 7:36-50

Forgiveness is a gift. We don't deserve it, we don't earn it, we just receive it as a gift. God in His mercy forgives our sins because of Jesus. We are forgiven because Jesus took our sin upon Himself and then bore our punishment. All of God's wrath against our sin was poured out on Jesus, who absorbed it on our behalf. This is what the Scripture means when it says "Christ died for our sins." This message explores the importance of forgiveness. It drills down and lays a foundation of what is sin...where did it orginate...what does Adam's sin have to do with me personally...and what does God say about sin? Congratulations too to all those who were baptized in the Boise river after the service this morning! We're so happy for you.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 10 - The Holy catholic and Apostolic Church - Matthew 16:18, 1 Corinthians 3:11, Matthew 18:17, Acts 2:42-47, and Galatians 3:26-28

Many people today say yes to God, but no to church. They believe in God, but want nothing to do with the church. Yet, the Apostles Creed declares the church as a top priority of the Christian faith. Why would they do that? As well, the Protestant reformers of the 16 century asked these same question and came up with four non-negotiables for the church that they found in scripture: the teaching of the God’s Word, the celebrating of the sacraments: baptism and the Lord's Supper, the exercising of discipline - Matthew 18, and the experiencing of honest prayer and fellowship. In this message, pastor Chris Meade explores what the church is, why it’s important, and what each of us should do as whole-hearted followers of Jesus.
<itunes:author>Christopher P.
Truth Matters: Part 9 - The Holy Spirit: God Within Us - John 14 -16, Matthew 28:18-20, 2 Corinthians 3, Ephesians 5:18

It was the life and teachings of Jesus and His resurrection that forced the apostles to the unheard of idea that the one God exists in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father and Son and Spirit have always loved each other and have been in relationship before the universe began. And what is really cool is that God invites each of us into that relationship of love with God. The Holy Spirit is committed to growing us up and conforming us into the image of Jesus. The Holy Spirit melts us, molds us, fills us, and uses us. At Grace Chapel, we believe in the Holy Spirt. But it's not just a point of doctrine for us, rather He is a person that we desire to know and love.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 8 - Christ's Second Coming and Eternal Judgment - Mark 13:26-34, 1 Corinthians 4:5, 2 Corinthians 5:10, 2 Peter 3:13

The Bible teaches that Jesus is coming again and when He does He will judge the living and the dead. Too often our culture defines heaven as a place where heavy-set babies with diapers and wings float around the clouds playing harps. Nothing could be further from the truth. As New testament scholar N.T. Wright says, Jesus came to give us life beyond life after death. Heaven is the place where Jesus currently is, and when we die, we go to be with Jesus there in heaven. But a day is coming where Jesus will literally and physically come again to earth. And when He does He will initiate the resurrection of the dead. As heaven and earth are redeemed and re-made, justice will be accomplshed and Jesus's kingdom will live on for eternity as all things will be made new. But in the meantime, God calls us to be a force for good and for justice in the world in which we live.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

While the word trinity does not appear in Scripture, the concept very clearly does. The church father Tertullian - AD 155–220 - was the first to use the word trinity in an effort to summarize a great amount of biblical truth. Darin Gere explores the mystery of the tirune God.
<itunes:author>Darin Gere, MSW</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 7 - Jesus - Assended on High - Acts 1:3-11

The last Sunday of each month is Extension Sunday at Grace Chapel. This message is in English and Nepali and shared by Arne Elmore and Jonathon Thumpa. After the bodily resurrection of Jesus, we move to Ascension Day in The Apostles’ Creed: He -Jesus- ascended
into heaven and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty. The Ascension doesn’t get as much attention as Jesus’ birth, death, and resurrection, but it is essential to our faith as 21st century Christsians.
<itunes:author>Arne Elmore and Jonathon Thumpa</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 6 - Resurrection - 1 Corinthians 15:1-8

The resurrection of Jesus is the most startling event in history. Twenty centuries later, people
are still debating the resurrection because if it happened, it changes everything. And if it didn’t
happen, the Christian faith amounts to nothing. Simply put, Jesus’ historic death and bodily resurrection is the most important event of human history.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 5 - Crucified, Died and Buried - Isaiah 53:1-8

I believe in Jesus Christ… who… suffered under Pontius Pilate
was crucified, died, and was buried. This statement is the focus of today’s message. Jesus came to rescue us from our sins, and Jesus’ death is central to that
rescue mission. He was born to die . . . for us. The final weeks of His life were spent preparing
others for his death and resurrection, and almost half of the gospels focus on those events. This message drills down to explore the what and why of Jesus' death and burial.
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Truth Matters: Part 4 - God Incarnate - John 1:1-18

We have begun each talk in this series with the statement: “In essentials, unity; in nonessentials, liberty; in all things, charity.” This messge looks at another core truth: If Jesus was virginborn, conceived by the Holy Spirit without a human father, it would make Him utterly unlike anyone
ever born. It would make Him God. And that’s why Christians for 2,000 years have included this belief as one of its core doctrinal truths. Many people have doubts about the virgin birth. Was Jesus conceived by a direct act of God without the help of any man? Was Mary a virgin when Jesus was conceived and born? Christians have always answered those questions “yes.”
<itunes:author>Christopher P. Meade, Ph.D.</itunes:author>

Easter Services - Resurrection Power - Ephesians 1:19-20

Something historical happened 2,000 years ago to a small band of Jesus followers that transformed each of their lives and created a worldwide movement–Christianity. These disciples were convinced that Jesus was raised from the dead and is still alive. They experienced a transforming power in their lives that changed them at their core. They believed that this “power” that raised Christ from the dead was the ultimate triumph over humanity’s greatest enemy–death. That same power that was demonstrated at the first Easter is still available for human life—in our struggles, brokenness, disappointments, and sin.
This message explores those claims and gives us an opportunity to respond to God’s invitation to experience a new, His power from on high.

Aiming for Full on Devotion - 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 and 2 Corinthians 11:1-3

Jesus said the most important thing in life is to love God with a whole-hearted, full-on devotion. That’s our aim as Christ followers. Full-devotion is not the exclusive domain of paid religious professionals, pastors or missionaries. We are all called to be holy, and all called to be devoted to Christ. This message explores three practical suggestions of how to do that in a busy and sometimes complicated world.

Fully Alive: Part 5 - Peaceful Dreams in an age of Stress and Sleeplessness - Psalm 127 and Psalm 4

Sleep experts tell us that sleep has many benefits such as: physical recovery, less irritability, stronger immunity, faster healing, increased creativity, and a sharper memory. In fact, the Bible tells us that when we sleep well, it is a statement of our faith. Psalm 127:2 “God grants sleep to those he loves...”	Sleep is one of the key ways God replenishes us. When we cooperate with God's design and His limitations in our lives, we increase the possibility to be a person fully alive in body, mind, soul, and spirit. This very practical message explores biblical principles or rest and recovery along with an introduction of the physiology of the brain.

Fully Alive: Part 4 - Thrilled to Death - Mark 8:36; Psalm 16:11; Ecclesiastes 3:13

Self care and soul care is vital to a vibrant spiritual life. It's also a common denominator of men and women who are fully alive. Drawn from the research of Dr. Archibald Heart, and from the life lessons of pastor Chris Meade, this message explores the effects and relationship of adrenaline and cortisol management, domain pathways, along with the power of the Holy Spirit, Christian mediation upon God’s word, and prayer. It provides a "way back home" in how to reclaim the God-provided pleasure that often gets chocked out by cultural over-stimulation and stress.

The God Who Speaks: Part 5 - Meditation - Be Still and Know that I Am God – Psalm 46:10

We learn to hear God speak better as we learn to meditate. Biblical meditation begins with being aware of what’s happening in you and around you. It's learning that God speaks to us through all of our human endowments (e.g., intellect, emotion, will, actions, physical senses, and Imagination). This message gives practical application on learning to hear God speak.

The God Who Speaks: Part 3 - Through People- 1 Peter 4: 10-11

God is speaking through the Bible, prayer, experiences, and people. He speaks through our leaders, the gifts of the Spirit, and through ordinary conversations. As we look for the evidence of God's presence and not His absence, it's amazing what we will see, hear, and learn about God when we are paying attention, and then taking time to evaluate through refelction that is guided by scripture what God is communicating. This message will explore some of the different ways God speaks through people and how we can recognize His voice when He does speaks to us.

The God Who Speaks: Part 2 - The Whisper of God - 1 Kings 19: 9-13

God has been speaking to people directly through all of history. Beginning in the Garden of Eden with Adam and Eve through the Book of Revealation with the apostle John, God still speaks to us today. This talk explores how God speaks, and how do we recognize God’s whisper when He does speak. The Bible records over 1,300 times where it says “The Lord said,” or some variation of that. God speaks to us by giving us thoughts and perceptions that bear the mark of their divine source. Pastor Chris Meade unpacks several practical ways we can learn to hear God better and discern His voice from our own.

The God Who Speaks: Part 1 - The Bible - 1 Samuel 3:9-10

God speaks to us through the Bible. God spoke to Moses, and he wrote it down. God spoke to the prophets, and they wrote that down; together we call these words the Old Testament. Then, God spoke “by His Son.” John even called Jesus “The Word.” God’s ultimate Word is Jesus. God spoke through His Son, and people wrote it down—we call it the New Testament. This message explains how God speaks and how we can learn to hear Him better.

Experiencing Christmas in Song, Spirit, and Story: Coming Home - John 14:1-3

Home is where we get our story. Home is one of the most evocative and powerful words in the English language. It's where we receive our name, establish our identity, experience safety, and refuge. Every person longs for a place like that. At the same time, we all long for home because deep down we all long for God. The good news in the Scriptures is that Jesus has gone on ahead of us to our heavenly home to prepare a place for each of us. Jesus has prepared the way through His death, burial, and resurrection. When we open our lives to Jesus and say Yes to Him, His spirit then abides in us and He promises to be with us soon as we will one day join Him in heaven for eternity.

Experiencing Christmas in Song, Spirit, and Story: The Spirit of Christ - Christmas Eve

What we really need in our world isn’t really the spirit of Christmas. Rather, we need the spirit of Christ. While the spirit of Christmas is annual, the spirit of Christ is forever. The spirit of Christmas is sentimental, but the spirit of Christ is supernatural. The spirit of Christmas is a human product, but the spirit of Christ is a person – and His name is Jesus.

Mary's teaches us how God's peace is available to each of us as we pray the dangerous prayer of Christmas: I am the Lord's servant. Be it unto me according to Your will. In the end peace wins because Jesus wins. Nothing, not Caesar, not Herod, not problems, not scandal, not gossip, not death itself can stop God's peace, which all began so long ago with Mary's (and Jesus') dangerous prayer!

The Significance of Water Baptism

Water baptism is a public declaration of our identification with Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection. It’s a Christian's first step of obedience to follow Christ. By getting baptized you are publicly saying to those around you that you have “died” to yourself and have decided to “follow” Jesus. Visit our website for more details on our upcoming water baptism (www.GraceChapel.com).

Experiencing Christmas in Song, Spirit, and Story: The Magnificat - Luke 1:46-55

The greatest Christmas carol in history was composed approximately 2,000 years ago by a pregnant, under-resourced, teenage Jewish girl named Mary. The Magnificat was a song of hope for Mary and a song of fear for Herod. Mary's song is about the great reversal that God is doing through Jesus Christ. The kingdom of God has come! And as we'll see, Jesus will win, not by "out-heroding" Herod, but by out loving and out suffering him on the cross. Mary is not rejoicing because God’s given her a problem-free life, but because God is a big God and He is always working for our good in the midst of challenging circumstances.

i-Joy: a study in the book of Philippians: Chapter 4

The apostle Paul mentions the word joy over 16 times in the letter to the Philippians. Paul encouraged the Christian community to find their joy in the fact that God was always working in their lives, and that He would provide for all their needs in His timing. And because of that fact, they could be content and never be afraid of uncertainity and challenging circumstances. When we learn to draw closer to Jesus our values align and solidify and our lives take on a deeper meaning and significance in the face of any difficulty.

i-Joy: a study in the book of Philippians: Chapter 3

The apostle Paul understood that God was always working in his life, and for his good, even when he was in jail. And when we interpret life's epxeriences through this same lens, then regardless of the circumstances in our lives, we too will find joy and peace in our relationship with God. Jesus has done it all for us, and because of His sacrfice on the cross and His resurecttion from the dead, we have a joy that can transend any situation and give us strength for the journey.

i-Joy: a study in the book of Philippians: Chapter 2

In this message, pastor Chris Meade “uploads” biblical truth on how to experience joy and live the "God-life" in the face of adversity, uncertainty, and the sometimes mundaneness of daily living. "Make my joy complete" was the challenge from the apostle Paul to the early Christians of Philippi. How? By getting along with each other, living in harmony, walking in humility, being others-centered, modeling Christ-like servanthood, cooperating with God purpose for our lives. Living the God-life is worth it all!

In today’s world more information is available at our fingertips than ever before. Instant messaging, mobile-to-mobile conversations, Internet searches, emails, and podcasts are the norm. Yet, in this fast-paced, information-driven society, one of the biggest questions we want answered centers on how to experience joy in the midst of uncertainty, fear, and difficult circumstances. In this message series, pastor Chris Meade “uploads” biblical truth on how to experience a joy that transcends circumstances.

Standard Bearers of Truth: Faith and Politics

This election is about more than politics, promises, personalities, and plans. It’s about who’s going to be the "Standard Bearer of Truth." God’s Word gives us three non-negotiables when selecting spiritual leaders throughout history (1 Samuel 16:7; Exodus 18:21). As a nation, we need change, but a change that aligns us to the values and principles of God's character and nature as revealed in the person of Jesus Christ.

Passion is the octain to sustaining vision. It's passion that changes the world. But what happens when you loose your spiritual ferver and your love for God is luke warm? What do you do when you feel like you are "going through the rigth motions," but with no e-motion? This messasge explores the passage of scripture where Jesus tells a group of Christians how they can get back on track and "relight the fire" and rekindle the zeal back into their love relationship with God. (Thank you to our great Nursery and Kids church teams that gave up this serivce today so that others could listen while they cared for and taught their children! You're the best!
Pure Sex: Safe Sex For Singles

Sex is God's good gift, and God intends sex for
marriage: one man, one woman, one flesh for a lifetime. Our culture has lifted all restrictions on sexual behavior and declared any and all sexual behavior permissible, even healthy. Some people, when confronted with God's high standards, simply dismiss them. But God's standards are very high because God wants the very best for you.

The Spirit’s coming was accompanied by three supernatural signs: sound, sight, and inspired speech. These three signs were miraculous and left no doubt as to what happened: the promise had come, the Spirit had been given! But the signs were just that—signs—they should not be confused with the Spirit Himself. This message discusses what it means to be filled with the Holy Spirit.

Empowered From Above: To the Ends of the Earth - Acts 1:1-11

The book of Acts is the story of how the Holy Spirit empowered the early apostles and other Christians with power from above in order to take the message of Jesus to their culture and beyond. They were commissioned to become a witness of the gospel story and share the life tranforming message of Jesus Christ with passion, fire, and foucs.
Developing a Missional Mindset: Acts 17

The gospel of Jesus is a message that is timeless and we must contend for it. At the same time, our methods need to be timely and we must strive to contextualize our ministry and not be afrarid to use technology to advance the cause of Christ. Some things from culture we must receive, other things reject, and still other things redeem. We also need the wisdom to know when to do what.

All day long we’re bombarded with advertisements that tell us that satisfaction is right within our grasp. When Jesus called Himself “the Living Bread,” He was not claiming to be exactly like the manna. He was claiming to be even greater! Jesus satisfies and sustains each of us in this life and in the life to come.

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.” John 8 teaches us that if we stay close to Jesus we’ll walk in the light, not the dark. When we walk in the dark, we bump into stuff and get all banged up; it’s much better to walk in the light!
